I seriously lost my groove this week. After plugging along rather productively at my dissertation I was side-tracked for several days last week working on my manuscript again. Now that the manuscript has been sent off to my advisor for resubmission I should be back at work on my dissertation, and double time at that to make up for the lost days. And yet… I couldn’t get myself to focus. All motivation was out the window. Until now…
My lovely sister-in-law, Em, came down to visit last Thursday and Friday. I’d invited her to come take advantage of the solitude of the house to study for an upcoming exam while I work on writing my dissertation. I actually ended up getting side-tracked for several days getting my manuscript ready for resubmission so my dissertation has sat untouched until today.
I guess that settles it then. My winged friend that visits me in the mornings appears to be a red-tailed hawk after all.
I was just getting started on the dishes this morning when the Impish Husband pointed out that our neighborhood hawk had just arrived and had taken up his perch in one of our trees.
After yesterday’s snowfall, I woke up this morning to some glorious sunshine. It looks like I wasn’t the only one who’d been craving some warmth because as I settled down at my desk I looked out the window and saw this:
Not going to lie. I took the weekend off. I finished the previous section of my dissertation a day behind schedule on Friday, which all things considered wasn’t too bad. I’m back to it now full force after a lovely weekend with the Impish Husband and a glorious dinner with friends last Saturday. I’ll have pictures to share of that soon but for now: back to the writing. Wish me luck! 🙂
The dissertation writing… is… going? I’m not where I’d like to be. I didn’t finish the two sections the other day like I’d promised myself (and you). I’d been spinning my wheels trying to get them wrapped up and wasn’t getting anywhere so I decided to let those be for now and move onto the next, rather large section. I’d budgeted myself three days for that and I’m nearing the end of day two. Me thinks I’m not going to be done by the end of tomorrow. Le sigh.
In other, more lovely news, I set up my desk by a window with a view and both yesterday and today I was rewarded with some awesome wildlife sightings.
